Kathleen Kayembe is an author and speaker whose work has appeared in Lightspeed, Nightmare, several Best of the Year anthologies, and the Hugo-nominated anthology Luminescent Threads: Connections to Octavia Butler. She was the Octavia E. Butler Scholar of her 2016 Clarion cohort, has been nominated for a Shirley Jackson Award, and is a certified writing workshop leader in the Amherst Writers and Artists (AWA) Method. She falls in love with the world every time she uses a fountain pen. You can find her in Columbus running AWA writing groups, scribbling happily into notebooks with an (apparently) murderous-looking intensity, and playing narrative-focused TTRPGs with an eye toward systems that are streamlined and straightforward enough for “non-gamers” and people with low vision to pick up and enjoy.
